Gary Ridgway, also known as the "Green River Killer," is an American serial killer convicted of murdering numerous women in the Seattle area of Washington state during the 1980s and 1990s. He was arrested in 2001 and later confessed to killing 71 women, although he was convicted of 49 counts of murder as part of a plea deal.

Ridgway primarily targeted sex workers and vulnerable women, often dumping their bodies near the Green River, which led to the moniker "Green River Killer." His arrest came after years of investigation, and he provided details about the murders in exchange for a plea deal that spared him from the death penalty.

He is currently serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole. Ridgway's case remains one of the most infamous and disturbing serial killer cases in American history.
