Mark David Chapman is infamously known as the man who murdered John Lennon, the legendary musician and former member of The Beatles. On December 8, 1980, Chapman fatally shot Lennon outside his residence in New York City. Chapman, who had been a Beatles fan, later revealed that he committed the murder to gain attention and notoriety.

He was arrested at the scene and subsequently sentenced to 20 years to life in prison. Chapman has been denied parole multiple times and, as of my last update in January 2022, remains incarcerated. The murder of John Lennon remains a tragic and significant event in music history.
